EPCOS Power Capacitor

Epcos PhaseCap Energy Capacitors are a modern generation of power factor correction (PFC) capacitors designed for industrial three-phase systems. Key features and specifications include:

• Voltage Range: Rated voltages from 230 V AC up to 690 V AC for PhaseCap Energy series; extended up to 1000 V AC in the PhaseCap Energy Plus series.

• Power Ratings: Capacitive outputs from 5 kVAR up to 33.1 kVAR in the regular PhaseCap Energy series, and up to 60 kVAR in the Energy Plus variants.

• Technology: Uses metallized polypropylene film (MKK technology) with wave-cut design, which reduces losses and enhances inrush current capability.

• Construction: Cylindrical aluminum housing, available in two impregnation types: gas-filled dry type and biodegradable soft resin semi-dry type.

• Life Expectancy: Long service life up to 200,000 hours (regular PhaseCap Energy) and up to 240,000 hours for the Energy Plus series, depending on temperature class and usage.

• Safety: Equipped with three-phase overpressure disconnectors, ceramic or discharge module blocks, and integrated discharge resistors.

• Current Capability: High inrush current capability up to 500 times rated current (500 IR), improving durability during switching operations.

• Thermal and Mechanical: Suitable for both horizontal and upright mounting, natural or forced cooling, and operation in room/climatic temperatures ranging from -40°C to +60°C depending on the model.
